UNHCR launches updated Protection Manual

Date:
Saturday, March 22, 2014

The Protection Manual is UNHCR's repository of all their protection policy and guidance, and collates hyperlinks to UNHCR’s publications on all topics within their mandate.

The contents are organised by theme, starting with international and regional refugee law instruments. The manual then turns to all inclusion and exclusion concepts within refugee protection, followed by country-related guidance and UNHCR publications on asylum procedures, effective remedies, reception, entry, detention, expulsion, extradition, and the rights of asylum-seekers and refugees. More general asylum and migration guidance is also included, along with protection considerations in mass influx situations, solidarity and burden sharing, and specific protection priorities. The manual also covers issues related to durable solutions, internally displaced persons and statelessness.
